The new training course “Pressure testing” relevant to all the technical aspects of planning and conducting a pressure test, has been launched by Welding Greek Institute (WGI).

Pressure Tests are the best, non-destructive way to guarantee the integrity of equipment (pressure vessels, pipelines, plumbing lines, gas cylinders, boilers and fuel tanks) and must always be performed under controlled conditions, following an approved test plan, and documented in a test record. These kinds of tests are also considered as basic requirements since the piping codes in our days, require to confirm that a piping system is able to bear its rated pressure and it has no leaks.

This course covers the wide range of topics related to Hydro-test and Pneumatic-test and gives candidates a good overall awareness of pressure testing, by providing all the necessary knowledge for successful planning and carrying out such tests based on modern techniques. Consequently, by choosing this short course you could use it as an aid to specialize further, or see your study from a different perspective, or you could also take an intensive look to a different field.

Swiss Approval International guarantees an accredited certification, giving the attenders the appropriate passport for the international market, ensuring with accuracy and independence the principles and rules that refer to pressure testing.

At the end of the training program, participants will acquire basic knowledge and skills regarding the following major issues:

  • Describe the test media used and the hazards associated with them
  • Understand the advantages/disadvantages of different types of test medium
  • Awareness of the legal requirements and the best practices
  • Overview of various types of test and why they are required
  • Establish clear roles and responsibilities
  • Understand the importance of pressure testing, and the importance of considering pressure test requirements at the early stages
  • Understand the basic theory relating to pneumatic and hydrostatic testing
  • Understand the differences between hydro testing and pneumatic testing, and be able to identify which type is most appropriate for a situation
  • Outline the step by step sequence of operation, is prepared prior to conducting pressure testing
  • Be very aware of important safety principles
  • Select appropriate instrumentation and equipment in carrying out a pressure test
  • React in a safe and controlled manner in the event of a leak
  • Identify the hazards which may harm life, property or the environment
  • Developing and following work practices and procedure to manage the risk
  • Awareness of evaluation of test results

Especially, this training program is suitable for the following stakeholders:

  • Engineers
  • Inspectors
  • Project managers
  • Integrity managers
  • Test leads
  • Test managers
  • Development managers
  • Operations personnel to prepare for testing

The final exams are closed-book. Everything covered in class, the lecture slides, the required readings, the assignments, or additional handouts may be tested. Additional details on the exam will be provided prior to the exam date. Successful attendees will also receive a Swiss Approval Training Certificate of Attendance.
